Diamond Energy Screen: Maximum Light Utilisation with Energy Saving
For many light-demanding crops, every percentage of light counts. With the new Diamond Energy Screen, Phormium responds to the demand for maximum light utilisation without compromising on energy saving and climate control. Diamond combines high light transmission with the moisture transport and energy-saving properties of a transparent Energy Screen.
Maximum light transmission
Measurements carried out in accordance with the NEN 2675 protocol show that the fabric allows more PAR light to pass through than a traditional transparent Energy Screen, both under diffuse light conditions and at low solar angles. According to Phormium's simulations, this results in an average of approximately 4% more available light beneath a closed screen.
According to Phormium's test method, Diamond achieves a direct light transmission of 92% with only 8% shade. Thanks to its patented weave pattern, more light reaches the crop, particularly during the winter months and under diffuse light conditions or at low solar angles. During these periods, every additional percentage of PAR light can contribute to improved crop development.
DryTec-technology and moisture
Diamond is equipped with DryTec Technology. Thanks to its hydrophilic surface treatment, condensation forms a thin water film rather than individual droplets. This allows moisture to be absorbed more efficiently by the moisture-transporting yarns and removed in a controlled manner. At the same time, light reflection caused by condensation droplets is reduced, ensuring that as much light as possible remains available to the crop, even under humid conditions.
Energy performance
In addition to its high light transmission, Diamond achieves an energy saving of 47%, comparable to that of a traditional transparent Energy Screen. The combination of energy saving and increased light transmission makes the fabric an attractive solution for growers looking to optimise both crop production and energy efficiency.
