WPK installs netting in greenhouses for optimum clean cultivation
Our customer, WPK, is installing netting in its greenhouses in Made, department by department. The grower aims to keep out diseases and pests in this way. With the vents ajar, a whitefly or aphid will usually fly in. Our customer has much fewer pests with SchermNed insect netting under the vents.
WPK went to SchermNed in 2020 to search for a solution to keep out silverleaf whiteflies and greenhouse whiteflies. In consultation with our sales manager, Carl Stougie, insect netting with a mesh size of 0.27 x 0.77 millimeters was selected. Insect netting was the best option for existing greenhouses.
Over the course of one summer, a test was conducted in one department using netting. Through measuring boxes and data loggers, WPK monitored the effect of the installation of netting on the greenhouse climate and level of infestation. WPK now knows from its own experience that the insect netting under the vents in the greenhouses with a post height of 4.5 meters has little impact on the greenhouse climate. The 2020 test was followed by a test in another department in 2021. There have now been six, and the seventh department is scheduled for testing. WPK performs the installation themselves with their own people.
